The Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court has taken a firm position, directing the city's police commissioner to deliberate on providing protection for activist Anil Wadapalliwar.
The activist, who filed a public interest litigation, targets what he describes as 'unregulated freebie' schemes implemented by the Maharashtra government, including the Ladki Bahin Yojana.
The court underscored the state's responsibility to safeguard the life and liberty of its citizens, referencing Article 21 of the Indian Constitution.
