Cyber fraudsters have targeted Goa's political figures, creating fake WhatsApp profiles of Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho and BJP MLA Nilesh Cabral.
Fraudulent messages, falsely attributed to the officials, have been circulating, soliciting money via Amazon Pay e-gift cards. Minister Godinho promptly filed a police complaint and warned the public against engaging with such scams.
MLA Cabral confirmed a similar scheme using his image, announcing plans to lodge a formal complaint. Authorities are investigating both incidents, urging citizens to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity.
