Teen Murder Suspect Faces Ricin and Terrorism Charges
Axel Rudakubana, an 18-year-old, stands accused of murdering three young girls and is facing charges related to ricin production and terrorism in England. Despite these charges, police maintain that the stabbings were not terror-related. Rudakubana is set to next appear in court on November 13.
Axel Rudakubana, 18, appeared in a London court on Wednesday, charged with the murder of three young girls and the production of the poison ricin. The attack, which happened in northern England during a Taylor Swift-themed dance event, has sparked widespread upheaval across Britain.
Rudakubana also faces accusations of attempted murder, possession of an al Qaeda training manual, and other terror-related charges. While charged with these severe offenses, the police maintain that the stabbings are not being treated as terrorism-related. No ricin was found at the scene of the attack.
The aftermath saw days of riots fueled by unfounded rumors of the attacker being a radical Islamist migrant. Police have worked to dispel these claims, stating the suspect was born in Britain. Rudakubana, who is yet to enter a plea, will appear at Liverpool Crown Court on November 13.
