The husband's mother, fearful of social ostracism, colluded with her brother. They enlisted a driver to execute the chilling plan. The victims, Vikas and Deeksha, were shot dead in their car while returning from a temple, as disclosed by law enforcement.

Originating from Agra, the couple had tied the knot in January. With the arrest of the three suspects, police provided further details, highlighting that the conspiracy included scouting for isolated locations for the murder.
