A police constable stationed in Mau district, Uttar Pradesh, died following a fatal accident when his motorcycle was struck by a speeding truck, officials reported.
The incident occurred late at night as 40-year-old Avneesh Singh was heading home to his quarters after duty. He was hit near Bhiti Chauraha, resulting in his instantaneous death, police said.
On Tuesday, senior officials, including Superintendent of Police Elamaran G and Additional Superintendent of Police Mahesh Singh Atri, gathered at the police lines to honor the fallen officer. ASP Atri called Singh's death an irreplaceable loss for the police force. The police have impounded the truck involved, although the driver escaped. Searches to apprehend the driver are ongoing.
