The national cybercrime reporting portal has proven instrumental in saving over Rs 3,431 crore, according to Minister of State for Food and Consumer Affairs B L Verma. Speaking in Parliament, Verma detailed how the platform has resolved 9.94 lakh complaints with impressive efficiency.
The 'Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting and Management System' is designed to automatically funnel cybercrime incidents to appropriate state-level law enforcement. This automated system aids in immediate financial fraud reporting, ensuring quicker action and preventing fraudsters from siphoning off funds.
The portal cybercrime.gov.in's success was underscored in Verma's written response to the Lok Sabha, pointing out its growing role in combatting financial cybercrimes. To enhance its reach and efficacy, the Ministry of Home Affairs has advised all states and union territories to amplify awareness about the portal and its toll-free helpline number 1930.
