Revolutionizing India's Cooperatives with the National Database

The Indian government has launched the National Cooperative Database (NCD), designed to improve the cooperative sector by offering a comprehensive repository of information on the country's cooperative societies. The database supports data-driven decisions and policy formulation, enhancing transparency and facilitating access to financial resources.

The Indian government has introduced the National Cooperative Database (NCD), a strategic initiative aimed at transforming the cooperative sector in India. This announcement was made in a session of Parliament on Wednesday.

The NCD serves as an extensive repository, encapsulating vital information about over 800,000 primary cooperative societies with a membership surpassing 29 crore. It is now accessible online at cooperatives.gov.in as confirmed by Cooperation Minister Amit Shah in a written statement to the Rajya Sabha.

By enabling data-driven decision-making, the NCD is poised to enhance policy development, monitoring, transparency, research capabilities, and financial access. Developed with the cooperation of state governments, it aggregates data entered by state-appointed nodal officers from diverse sectors.
