Nepalese authorities have apprehended two Indian nationals involved in smuggling gold into the country, sans customs duty. Mahesh Amrit Mani, 27, and Rahul Khadu, 24, were detained at the pivotal Nagdhunga entryway to Kathmandu.
The duo, hailing from Maharashtra, was reportedly attempting to smuggle the precious metal into Nepal, as per a statement from the Nepal Police. Legal proceedings and more in-depth investigations have commenced to delve further into the illicit operation.
In an unrelated case, 26-year-old Ram Bahadur Majhi, another Indian national, was arrested in the Parsa district on charges of hemp possession. This incident further underscores the cross-border vigilance efforts by the Nepalese law enforcement.
