In a significant crackdown, three individuals, including two pharmacy operators, have been apprehended for the alleged illegal sale of medical termination of pregnancy (MTP) kits, authorities confirmed Thursday.
The arrests followed a pivotal complaint from a nodal officer of the MTP Act, who reported the unauthorized selling of MTP kits via a website. Prompt investigations ensued, including the ordering of a kit by a drug control officer, which confirmed the illicit operation, officials revealed.
The suspects—website operator Apoorv Upadhyay from Badaun and pharmacy operators Satyam Tripathi from Sitapur and Vipul Tyagi from Delhi—were detained following separate FIRs registered at Sector 40 police station. The inquiry into the company's involvement in supplying these kits is ongoing.
