Maharashtra Excise Department Seizes Counterfeit Liquor Worth Rs 14 Lakh
In Thane district, the Maharashtra excise department seized cheap alcohol worth Rs 14 lakh, packaged as reputed brands. Three individuals were arrested in connection with this operation. The seizure was conducted in Shahapur and Karjat talukas following a tip-off about liquor being repackaged from Daman and Goa.

The Maharashtra excise department made a significant bust in Thane district, seizing fake alcohol packed in bottles of reputed brands worth approximately Rs 14 lakh. The operation, carried out on Wednesday, led to the arrest of three individuals, an official revealed on Friday.
Officials targeted Shahapur and Karjat talukas after receiving a tip that the liquor, originally sourced from Daman and Goa, was being unlawfully repackaged. Inspector D R Parab led the decisive action, which resulted in the confiscation of 126 boxes of counterfeit liquor.
The seized fake alcohol is estimated to be valued at Rs 13.81 lakh. The accused have been taken into custody, furthering the department's efforts to curb the illegal liquor trade in the region.
