In a tragic incident on Friday morning, a teenager lost his life while two other civilians sustained severe injuries due to an explosion at an Army firing range in Datia district, Madhya Pradesh. Additional Superintendent of Police Sunil Kumar Shivhare confirmed the occurrence at approximately 9 am near Jaitpur village.
The deceased has been identified as 17-year-old Gangaram, while the injured victims, Ramu (23) and Manoj (16), received immediate medical attention and were transported to a hospital in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. The incident took place within the Basai police station's jurisdiction, 80 kilometers from Datia city.
Preliminary investigations suggest that one of the victims unwittingly triggered the explosion by picking up an unexploded piece of ammunition. Local villagers are known to gather such remnants to sell as scrap metal, although the hazardous practice poses significant dangers, as corroborated by further investigations led by the authorities.
