Central Talks Ignite Hope for Farmers Amid Ongoing Protests

A Central team led by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi met with farmers' representatives in a significant meeting to address demands, including a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) on crops. Despite previous inconclusive talks, hopes are high for resolutions as protests persist across Punjab and Haryana.

A significant meeting took place on Friday between a Central team led by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and farmers' representatives, focusing on critical demands such as a legal guarantee for the Minimum Support Price (MSP) on crops. This comes in the wake of a year-long protest by farmers, who have been persistently urging the government for reforms.

The discussions were attended by a 28-member delegation from the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha. Prominent leaders like Jagjit Singh Dallewal, currently on an indefinite hunger strike, were present, emphasizing the urgency of their demands. Punjab's Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian and other top officials were also part of the meeting.

The farmers' protests, stationed at various border points, continue pressing for demands beyond legal MSP guarantees, including debt waivers, pensions for farmers and laborers, and a review of previous government actions. Despite previous rounds of inconclusive talks, the farmers remain determined to see these issues addressed.
