Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated the state is ready to incarcerate 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks accused Tahawwur Hussain Rana once extradited from the United States.
The chief minister's remarks followed US President Donald Trump's announcement of his administration's approval of Rana's extradition to India, addressing him as ''very evil.''
Fadnavis emphasized the capability of Mumbai's security to manage high-profile criminals, mentioning the state's history with Ajmal Kasab, another 26/11 terrorist.
CM Fadnavis credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the critical role in securing Rana's extradition and expressed gratitude, noting America's initial reluctance was overcome with Modi's initiative.
Rana, currently detained in Los Angeles, will be extradited following the US Supreme Court's dismissal of his legal appeal.
The extradition represents a crucial step towards justice for the victims of the 26/11 attacks, and as Fadnavis noted, it reflects the importance of holding perpetrators accountable through India's legal system.
