The Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) in Thane district has issued a compensation directive, awarding Rs 16.62 lakh to the family of an 18-year-old road accident victim.
The tribunal, led by member P R Ashturkar, found the accident resulted from the trailer truck driver's rash driving and ordered both the vehicle's owner and Bajaj Allianz General Insurance to compensate the family, including interest.
The accident, involving a trailer truck and a parked scooter, tragically claimed the life of Paras Katarmal in 2019. Despite Bajaj Allianz's opposition, the insurance company was deemed liable, with compensation covering future income loss and other damages.
