US Deportee Arrested: The Case of Gurwinder Singh

Gurwinder Singh, a recently deported illegal immigrant from the US, was arrested for three criminal cases in India. He was part of a group flown back to Amritsar. Singh faces charges for two snatching cases and is a proclaimed offender in a third, originating from Faridkot district.

A 27-year-old man deported from the United States has been arrested in India on Monday over pending criminal charges, authorities announced. Gurwinder Singh, a resident of Sasrali colony in Jamalpur, was brought before a local court and subsequently remanded to judicial custody.

Singh was among 116 illegal Indian immigrants who were flown back to Amritsar late Saturday night on a U.S. aircraft, officials confirmed. The Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sumit Sood disclosed that Singh had evaded arrest in the past, facing charges in three separate criminal cases including two incidents of snatching.

In the third case, registered in the Faridkot district, Singh had been declared a proclaimed offender. Notably, Gurwinder Singh is the son of a former police constable, adding a familial twist to the unfolding legal saga.
