In a significant administrative change, Haryana will witness the appointment of a new chief secretary following the reassignment of the current officer, Vivek Joshi, to the position of election commissioner.
Joshi, a member of the 1989 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) Haryana cadre, was positioned as the chief secretary on October 31, 2024, succeeding T V S N Prasad upon his retirement. Prasad belonged to the 1988 IAS batch.
Anurag Rastogi, currently serving as Financial Commissioner, Revenue and Additional Chief Secretary, is a strong contender to follow in Joshi's footsteps. This reshuffling aligns with the recent appointment of Gyanesh Kumar as the chief election commissioner.
