In a dramatic turn of events, a Muslim cleric named Mufti Mustaq has been arrested for allegedly delivering a provocative speech that incited a mob to attack a local police station. The arrest took place on Thursday, followed by his appearance in court, leading to a 14-day judicial custody.

The police station incident occurred on the night of February 10, as a mob, reportedly instigated by Mustaq's remarks, gathered outside Udayagiri police station. The situation escalated to stone-pelting, leaving several police officers injured and official vehicles destructed.

Authorities have charged the cleric under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for hate speech and inciting religious tensions. To date, 17 individuals have been detained in relation to the attack, with ongoing investigations by the police.
