In a dramatic turn of events involving allegations of human rights violations, Vasundhara Oswal, the daughter of billionaire Pankaj Oswal, found herself in a Ugandan prison under charges that were eventually proven false. Accused of kidnapping and attempted murder, Oswal's ordeal has raised questions about the judicial processes in Uganda.
Speaking to PTI, Oswal narrated her harrowing three-week detention, which she claims was filled with systemic abuses. Officers allegedly denied her basic human necessities and forced compliance without legal representation. Police misconduct and extortion emerged as significant issues during her detention.
Despite Mukesh Menaria, the supposed victim, being found alive, Vasundhara was held without release. Legal resolutions saw her charges dropped in December, but Oswal is now pursuing further legal action to address the injustices she faced. This case underscores the urgent need for improved legal practices in Uganda.
