Uttarakhand Assembly's Historic Budget: A Blueprint for the Future

The Uttarakhand Assembly adjourned after a five-day session, approving a significant budget over Rs 1 lakh crore for 2025-26, focusing on innovation and infrastructure. An amendment for stricter land reforms was also passed, addressing land purchase restrictions and protecting genuine investors.

The Uttarakhand Assembly concluded its latest session with significant legislative accomplishments. Chief among these was the passage of a historic budget exceeding Rs 1 lakh crore, marking a substantial increase from previous years. The budget, hailed by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami as a "blueprint of the state's future," aims to propel the state towards enhanced innovation, agriculture, connectivity, and infrastructure development.

Alongside the budget, the Assembly passed a crucial amendment bill affecting land reforms across Uttarakhand, imposing restrictions on land purchases in all but two districts, Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar. These changes aim to curb land mafia activities while protecting the interests of legitimate investors in the region.

In his address, Chief Minister Dhami emphasized that the tightened land regulations align with public sentiment and will support better management of shrinking agricultural lands, heralding a new phase of land use governance in the state.
