A 54-year-old man was detained in Assam's Udalguri district for possessing two illegal elephant tusks, weighing around 13 kilograms, said a senior official on Sunday.
The arrest took place in Bongrun village within Harissinga police station limits, organized by a team from Manas National Park & Tiger Reserve, according to Field Director C Ramesh.
The operation, led by Manas Tiger Reserve officials, saw the capture of the tusks alongside the suspect's mobile phone and a vehicle linked to a still-at-large accomplice. Efforts continue to apprehend the absconding accomplice.
