The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) has initiated an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct and bullying against an assistant professor who has since resigned. This development follows a formal complaint lodged by a student, according to an official statement released on Monday.
The complaint was received on February 20, prompting immediate action from TISS's Internal Complaint Committee (ICC), which is leading the inquiry. The committee aims to conduct a fair and impartial investigation, providing hearings for both the accuser and the accused, the official disclosed.
The student, in her complaint addressed to TISS Chancellor Professor DP Singh and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, accused the professor of creating a toxic environment via personal advances and intimidating remarks. She urged the institution for strict action and advocated for an anonymous grievance redressal mechanism. The ICC has assured a thorough and independent investigation, the official further noted.
