Chhattisgarh Cracks Down on Illegal Mineral Activities in 2024

In 2024, Chhattisgarh tackled 7,723 illegal mineral activities. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai reported recoveries amounting to Rs 23.76 crore. Under legal provisions, seized minerals and vehicles from 7,555 cases were released post-settlement. The state enforces stringent policies against unauthorized mineral storage and transport.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced in the state assembly that Chhattisgarh registered 7,723 cases of illegal mineral activities in 2024. The statement came in response to an inquiry by BJP MLA Rajesh Munat.

Vishnu Deo Sai confirmed that from January to December 2024, the state managed to recover Rs 23.76 crore as settlement from these offenses. Munat also questioned whether minerals and vehicles had been confiscated, with the Chief Minister affirming the seizures.

According to Section 23-B of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957, released minerals and vehicles involved in 7,555 cases occurred after settlements were paid. The state government maintains a strict policy to curb illegal mineral-related activities.
