Nagaland Assembly Forms New Committees to Tackle Climate and Governance Challenges

The Nagaland Assembly has formed committees to address climate change and improve local governance. These bodies will focus on environmental legislation, enhancing air and water quality, sustainable practices, and local governance improvements. Additional assembly committees were also introduced for future governance initiatives.

The Nagaland Assembly has set up two new committees aimed at addressing the crucial issues of climate change and enhancing the efficacy of local governance structures within the state.

Speaker Sharingain Longkumer highlighted the urgent necessity of these committees, driven by the Assembly's commitment to bringing governance closer to the people with a global perspective.

One panel is dedicated to climate change, focusing on reviewing legislative measures, air and water quality, and advocating for green initiatives. The other centers on strengthening rural and urban governance by addressing key local issues. Additional assembly committees were also introduced for future governance planning.
