Kolkata Rallies Demand Justice for Doctor and Student

Two rallies in Kolkata called for justice for a doctor who was raped and murdered, and condemned an injury to a student during a protest. Civil groups and political parties joined the demands, with ongoing investigations targeting those involved in these incidents.

In Kolkata, two compelling rallies unfolded on Sunday, advocating for justice in the harrowing case of a doctor who faced rape and murder at RG Kar Medical College.

Spearheaded by a segment of civil society, the congregation marked the seventh month of the crime, decrying not only this tragedy but also an injury to a protesting student at Jadavpur University allegedly caused by a vehicle linked to Education Minister Bratya Basu.

Participants, who marched from Hazra Crossing and Esplanade to Rabindra Sadan, demanded comprehensive investigation by the CBI, following the Sealdah sessions court's life sentence for former civic volunteer Sanjay Roy.
