The tragedy of Gurpreet Singh, whose body was recovered from the collapsed Srisailam Left Bank Canal tunnel, has cast a shadow over his native place as it awaits his return for a final farewell. The rescue efforts remain focused on finding the seven still-trapped men.

Singh, who was working for Robbins Co as a Tunnel Boring Machine operator, was one of eight men caught in the tunnel collapse on February 22. His remains were transported to Punjab after a thorough postmortem at Nagarkurnool civil hospital, officials reported.

Announcing a relief package for Singh's family, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy extended Rs 25 lakh. Rescue operations, involving expert teams from NDRF, the Indian Army, and the Navy, persist in the backdrop of this tragedy, highlighting the risks faced by workers in such perilous conditions.
