Math Graduate Turned Phone Thief Nabbed in Delhi

A 37-year-old mathematics graduate, Pramod Kumar Gupta, was arrested by Delhi Police for stealing over 50 cellphones. Despite having training in phone repair, Gupta resorted to theft for quick money. Police seized 52 phones and 15 motherboards in his possession, linking some to previous cases.

In a shocking revelation, Delhi Police have arrested a 37-year-old mathematics graduate, Pramod Kumar Gupta, accused of stealing more than 50 mobile phones. Gupta, originally from Sonipat in Haryana, holds a degree in mathematics from a government institute in Uttar Pradesh and had completed phone repair training in 2020.

Despite this technical training, Gupta allegedly turned to theft, selling stolen phones across Delhi and Haryana to make quick money. Police recovered 52 mobile phones and 15 motherboards during his arrest near NWB Chowk road, where Gupta was caught attempting to escape, carrying a backpack stuffed with the stolen devices.

The recovered items include phones linked to theft cases in Khyala and Hari Nagar, shedding light on Gupta's earlier criminal activities. Gupta, a married father of two with previous criminal records, continues to remain under investigation following his arrest, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Vichitra Veer.
