A 51-year-old undertrial prisoner has tragically died while being transported to a hospital from a jail facility in Thane district, Maharashtra, according to local authorities. The prisoner's sudden collapse occurred amid existing kidney health issues.
The deceased, a resident of Bhayander, collapsed on March 7 after visiting a toilet in the Aadharwadi jail in Kalyan. Prison officials quickly administered first aid and moved him to the jail hospital before deciding to transfer him to the Central Hospital in Ulhasnagar as his condition deteriorated. Sadly, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The police have lodged a case of accidental death and are awaiting the postmortem report to ascertain the precise cause. Details regarding the charges against the prisoner have not been disclosed by the officials.
