Syria's New Dawn: Islamist Rule Faces Early Challenges

Following the ousting of former President Bashar al-Assad, Syria's new rulers have completed a military operation against Assad loyalists. The clashes, primarily in Assad's former coastal stronghold, led to over 1,000 deaths. Public services are resuming as officials investigate the violence, aiming to restore security and stability.

The Syrian Defense Ministry announced the successful completion of a military operation against loyalists of ousted President Bashar al-Assad. Clashes between Assad loyalists and the Islamist-led government resulted in over 1,000 deaths, mainly civilians, in the coastal regions once dominated by Assad.

Hassan Abdul Ghany, the Defense Ministry spokesperson, confirmed that public services are resuming. He emphasized efforts to restore normalcy, combat remnants of the former regime, and prevent future threats.

The new Syrian leader, Ahmed al-Sharaa, vowed to pursue those responsible for the unrest. An independent committee will investigate the incidents, with security forces assisting to ensure justice and clarify the facts.
