In a revealing press briefing, Jharkhand's DGP Anurag Gupta disclosed a disturbing trend: most crime plots are being orchestrated from within the state's jails, facilitated by organized criminal gangs.
The issue has sparked intense debate in the state assembly, with BJP legislators voicing concerns over a crumbling law and order framework, a protest that ultimately led to the disruption of the Question Hour.
In response, the Jharkhand Anti-Terror Squad has initiated extensive raids across various jails, as part of efforts to curb unlawful activities. The DGP reassured that investigations, including the perplexing murder of an NTPC official, are proceeding with due urgency.
