An anti-corruption team in Uttar Pradesh has arrested a sub-inspector, Kapil Bharti, caught accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 in Etawah. Authorities revealed that Bharti was trying to manipulate a case investigation involving two individuals.
The case unfolded following a February dispute between brothers Ankit and Pawan Kumar and Hanumant Singh, leading to police action against the brothers based on Singh’s complaint. Sub-inspector Bharti, responsible for probing the incident, allegedly sought the bribe for dropping the names of the accused siblings.
A sting operation, organized after Pawan Kumar reported the bribe demand, was successful in capturing Bharti in the act, confirmed Senior Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar Verma. Further legal processes are being pursued.
