Assam Witchcraft Assault: A 62-Year-Old Adivasi Woman's Ordeal

A 62-year-old Adivasi woman from Assam was brutally attacked by a mob on suspicion of witchcraft. Rescued from near a river, she is in critical condition at Assam Medical College Hospital. Her husband alleges that 25 individuals were involved, and police are investigating the family feud angle.

In a tragic incident from Assam's Dibrugarh district, a 62-year-old Adivasi woman was critically injured after being brutally attacked by a group on the suspicion of practicing witchcraft. The assault took place near the Romai tea estate in the Lahowal police station area.

The woman's husband has claimed that a mob of 25 people forcibly entered their home, subjected his wife to severe torture, and then dumped her near a river. Identifying three individuals as prime suspects, he noted that they have since fled the vicinity.

Dibrugarh's Additional Superintendent of Police, Nirmal Ghosh, suggested that the attack might have stemmed from a family dispute. Meanwhile, the woman remains in critical condition at the Assam Medical College Hospital as police continue their investigation.
