Maharashtra's Legal Challenge Against Almatti Dam Height Increase

Maharashtra Water Resources Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil declared on Tuesday that the state would petition the Supreme Court to intervene against Karnataka's plan to elevate Almatti Dam.

This response came during a legislative session when NCP member Arun Lad inquired about Maharashtra's objections to the proposed project, citing fear of increased floods.

Known for its agricultural benefits, the dam has been embroiled in disputes since a 2008 Tribunal ruling, highlighting opposition from neighboring states like Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra over its heightened elevation.
