In Odisha's Ganjam district, authorities arrested 40 individuals from two villages following a violent clash over the creation of a new river mouth. On Monday, residents of Ramayapatna reportedly diverted the Bahuda River's water, triggering opposition and conflict with neighboring Katuru villagers.

The altercation left eight people injured, five of whom required hospitalization at MKCG Medical College and Hospital. Prohibitory orders were swiftly enforced in the villages of Ramayapatna and Katuru as a preventive measure to curb further unrest.

According to SP (Berhampur) Savana Vivek M, the situation has been stabilized with increased security presence, including movement restrictions to maintain order in the area.
