Gangster Aman Sao, linked to approximately 150 criminal cases, met a violent end during a shootout with police in Jharkhand's Palamu district. The incident occurred when gang members attempted to free him from custody, sparking a gun battle that concluded with Sao's death, officials reported.

The attack unfolded as Sao was being brought from Raipur jail to Ranchi. According to Medininagar SDPO Manibhushan Prasad, Sao's gang launched an assault on the police vehicle near Chainpur, leading to a fierce encounter in which Sao was killed and an STF jawan was injured.

The state police have escalated security measures in response, deploying bomb squads to the area. As authorities continue to probe the troubling trend of crime conspiracies originating from inside state jails, local legislators have raised concerns over the encounter, demanding a report in the Jharkhand Assembly.
