Tripura Tops Northeast in Public Distribution System Efficiency

Tripura's Public Distribution System (PDS) has emerged as the most efficient among the northeastern states, according to Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sushanta Chowdhury. With 9.83 lakh ration cardholders, the state ranks fourth across India for its service delivery effectiveness. This achievement was highlighted at a recent press conference.
Minister Chowdhury emphasized the state's comprehensive distribution efforts, which include rice, atta, pulses, mustard oil, and spices. Notably, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has shown interest in Tripura's system, sending officials to study their subsidized provision of essential commodities like pulses.
Amidst this, political tensions simmer as Tipra Motha Party's leader threatened to leave the coalition government. Chowdhury reiterated the state's commitment to peace and development, awaiting further actions from the Union Home Minister regarding the peace accord with TMP.
