In a decisive move to tackle illegal immigration, Delhi Police have detained 24 Bangladeshi nationals, including two minors, within a week-long operation conducted in the capital's southern regions.
The operation commenced on March 6, subsequent to a critical review meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the capital's security situation. This meeting prompted directives for a swift legal approach to address the challenge of illegal immigrants.
The detainees, found with Bangladeshi ID documents, allegedly procured fraudulent Indian documents through local contacts. Efforts are underway to nullify these false documents and action is being pursued against individuals assisting these immigrants. The detainees are being processed for deportation, having entered India via West Bengal borders and subsequently traveled to Delhi.
