Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced a significant investigation into the transfer of 'Shamlat Deh' land to the Waqf Board during a state assembly session. This action follows concerns about land located on the Rohtak-Gohana road, known as Peer Bodhi, which may have been improperly allocated.
Responding to Congress member B B Batra's query on whether a 125-year-old pond at Peer Bodhi was involved, Saini assured a thorough probe into past land dealings. A specialized committee led by the Rohtak divisional commissioner will delve into the matter, assisted by key members from various administrative divisions, to scrutinize all pertinent facts and records.
Preliminary findings reveal that the contentious land, recorded as 'Shamlat Deh' in 1967-68, was reassigned to the Punjab Waqf Board in 1990 and identified as a cemetery. Saini stressed that identifying those involved in unauthorized land transfers and understanding the process could prevent future occurrences and rectify past misallocations.
