The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Sambhal violence case has issued a notice to Samajwadi Party MP Ziaur Rehman Barq. The notice was delivered at Barq's Delhi residence after earlier attempts to serve it in Sambhal were unsuccessful, officials said.
Barq confirmed receipt of the notice and stated that he would join the probe on April 8. He described allegations against him as 'baseless,' stressing his commitment to complying with the investigation, acknowledging his responsibilities as an MP and citizen.
The notice follows the arrest of Zafar Ali, linked to violence during a protest against a mosque survey. Superintendent Krishan Kumar Bishnoi emphasized the necessity of Barq's statement, given his status as an accused in the case.
