Puducherry Government Responds to Fishermen's Plight and Education Funding Controversy

Puducherry's Public Works Department Minister, K Lakshminarayanan, announced financial relief for fishermen families detained by the Sri Lankan Navy and discussed the government's response to a funding dispute involving a local private school.

Puducherry's Minister of Public Works, K Lakshminarayanan, declared in the assembly a relief package for families of fishermen detained by the Sri Lankan Navy, offering Rs 500 daily until their return.

He revealed the government's commitment to compensating a fisherman from Karaikal with Rs 8 lakh after his boat was seized, emphasizing the effort to alleviate fishermen's economic hardships.

The assembly also tackled a separate issue where opposition MLAs accused a government-aided school of failing to contribute its share of teachers' salaries, leading to calls for potential derecognition. Home Minister Namassivayam assured corrective measures to safeguard teachers' welfare.
