Prabodh Saxena, the Chief Secretary of Himachal Pradesh, has been granted a six-month extension, as sources revealed on Saturday. The announcement was made publicly by Saxena himself during a farewell dinner hosted by the Himachal IAS Officers Association on Friday night.

Originally set to retire on March 31, Saxena, a 1990-batch officer, has held multiple prominent roles both at the Centre and in state governments, as well as in multilateral institutions. He assumed the position of chief secretary of Himachal Pradesh on December 31, 2022.

Hailing from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, Saxena holds a bachelor's in Law from Delhi University and a master's from the London School of Economics. His distinguished career is marked by his travels to 75 countries, enhancing his vast administrative expertise.
