A village development officer in Kodhara Nobrar was suspended immediately following charges of financial misconduct totaling Rs 53 lakh, officials disclosed.
Chief Development Officer (CDO) Aojasvi Raj verified the suspension of panchayat secretary Devanand Giri on Saturday, after an investigation unearthed considerable discrepancies in gram panchayat construction endeavors.
The probe was sparked by a complaint from local resident Ram Kishore, claiming both the panchayat secretary and 'pradhan' withdrew funds without fulfilling corresponding projects. The District Panchayat Raj Officer confirmed these findings. Following the inquiry by the block development officer and a junior engineer, action is underway to file an FIR against Giri, and further investigations into other involved parties are ongoing.
