As tensions rise following a terror attack in Pahalgam, Assam has taken proactive measures by conducting a comprehensive civil defence mock drill across 14 districts. Designed to improve preparedness against potential air strikes, this exercise involved extensive collaboration among several state and federal agencies.
According to Arabinda Kalita, Inspector General of Police for Home Guard and Civil Defence, the drill was a success. "The entire exercise was completed successfully, and we could test all our capabilities in case of any air attack by enemy forces," he stated.
The drill's primary objectives included assessing air raid warning systems, establishing communication links, and testing control rooms. With tensions between India and Pakistan simmering after the recent attack, these exercises are crucial for maintaining national security.
