Amidst heavy rain, the sound of a blaring siren at 4 PM at Cross Maidan in south Mumbai marked the start of a meticulous mock drill enacting an air strike scenario. This event, part of Operation Abhyas, mobilized efforts from various emergency response teams aiming to rescue the 'injured'.
The drill kicked off with an alarm simulating bombardment, causing multiple explosions and a subsequent fire. Volunteers quickly took shelter, following instructions to stay put till an all-clear was given. Civil Defence volunteers promptly responded, commencing rescue efforts.
An Incident Control Officer assessed the situation for any radiation or dirty bomb threats. Meanwhile, the fire department along with the National Disaster Response Force actively worked to extinguish the fires and evacuate casualties to nearby hospitals. The exercise portrayed effective multi-agency coordination in crisis management.
