In the violence-hit area of Beldanga, West Bengal, a heavy police presence was observed on Sunday as state police personnel coordinated with the Rapid Action Force. This followed consecutive days of chaos involving road blockades, stone pelting, and assault on journalists.
The unrest was sparked by the alleged unnatural death of a local migrant worker in Jharkhand, attributed by the family to miscreants opposing his use of the Bengali language. Protesters in Beldanga reacted by blocking roads and railways, leading to widespread disruption and damage.
Authorities have since arrested 30 individuals associated with these incidents, emphasizing that action was spurred by investigation through social media and CCTV footage. Amidst the turmoil, accusations have been pointed towards Matiur Rahman for inciting violence, while former TMC leader Humayun Kabir provided insights without confirming political affiliations.
