The West Bengal government has issued a directive cancelling leaves for all state employees due to increasing tensions between India and Pakistan. The order, issued by the state finance department, demands that employees return to duties immediately, except for those on medical leave.
Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has ramped up its disaster response protocols in line with the directive. Officials instructed the disaster response teams to be vigilant, especially at night, and have asked for a stockpile of essential supplies like tarpaulin sheets and dry food.
Surveillance has been stepped up at key infrastructure points, including the Tala water tank, with KMC's control room now operating 24/7. Officials are under orders to keep communications open at all times.
