Ukraine's Tribunal Move: A New Chapter in War Accountability

Ukraine and 40 countries support a special tribunal to prosecute Russian officials for war crimes after the invasion of Ukraine. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed on Friday that Moscow would not respond to the announcement of a special tribunal to prosecute Russian officials for war crimes.

Established by the Council of Europe, the tribunal addresses Russian leaders' accountability for the 2022 Ukraine invasion.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasizes the need for the tribunal to prevent further wars, urging for EU support. Alongside, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas calls for international backing, underscoring the necessity of punishing those responsible for the aggression.
