Kyiv Under Siege: Escalating Drone and Missile Strikes
The Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, faced severe drone and missile attacks resulting in injuries and widespread damage. These strikes form part of ongoing conflict efforts by Russia, with both countries having recently participated in negotiations that yielded minimal progress beyond prisoner exchanges.

The Ukrainian capital Kyiv was subjected to intense drone and missile strikes early Tuesday, causing damage to residential buildings and injuring up to 16 people, according to city officials. Reuters reported swarms of drones over the city as air raid alerts persisted for hours.
Attacks were also recorded in other regions, including the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported most injuries occurred in the Solomianskyi district, where a drone hit an apartment building. Emergency crews responded to fires across multiple districts amid power outages.
Despite ongoing direct talks between Ukraine and Russia aimed at resolving a protracted conflict, the recent assaults highlight continued aggression. Russian units reportedly thwarted a separate drone attack on Moscow. The situation in Kyiv remains tense, as confirmed by President Zelenskiy's administration.
