The Central government has extended the application deadline for the Chief Information Commissioner's post in the Central Information Commission (CIC) until the end of June 2025, according to an order from the Personnel Ministry.
Although the deadline was initially set for June 20, the new date gives eligible candidates additional time to apply for this crucial role in India's transparency watchdog. The terms and eligibility criteria remain unchanged.
The current Chief Information Commissioner, Heeralal Samariya, will complete his term later this year. The RTI Act outlines that the position should be filled by a person of eminence in public life and specifies the person cannot be reappointed or hold office past the age of 65.
