The Communist Party of China (CPC) has accomplished a historic achievement, with its membership surpassing the 100 million mark by the end of 2024. This milestone reflects a growth of nearly 1.09 million members from the previous year, according to a report from the Central Organisation Department of the CPC.

The data came to light just before the annual July 1 celebrations commemorating the founding of the CPC. Analysts attribute the slower growth rate of the party's membership to stricter screening procedures implemented by the COD, aimed at ensuring more qualified candidates.

Notably, the party's demographics show that women constitute almost 31% of the membership, with ethnic minorities at 7.7%. Meanwhile, workers and farmers make up around 33% of the overall pool, illustrating the party's diverse composition.
