Mizo National Front (MNF) President Zoramthanga reaffirmed the significance of the Mizo peace accord on its 39th anniversary. The accord, signed in 1986, was not merely an agreement between the MNF and the Indian government but an embodiment of the aspirations of the Mizo people.
This historic accord, celebrated across Mizoram, resulted in the elevation of Mizoram from a Union Territory to a full-fledged state, embedding special provisions under Article 371G, which ensures the autonomy of Mizoram in various matters.
The MNF commemorated this milestone with the unveiling of a hoarding of Article 371G. Zoramthanga emphasized the strategic strength during the accord signing, acknowledging the sacrifices made by MNF cadres and the significance of these protections for Mizoram's future.
